As many will now be aware, the Housing Standards Review has resulted in a new Part M in relation to dwellings.
There are now three options for accessibility standards known as M4(1), M4(2) and M4(3); the applicable level will be decided by the planning authority.
For Londoners, the current consultation on minor alterations to the London Plan amends this to state that Boroughs should ensure 90% meet M4(2) and 10% meet M4(3) standards. It also states that the individual Boroughs should assess the level of need for wheelchair accessible and wheelchair adaptable and identify this in their LDF policies, in order to address the M4(3) requirements. The consultation can be found at the GLA website.
