The shared core value of the Paralympics and Proudlock Associates

Last night saw the spectacular opening to the Paralympic Games, which will see around 4,400 athletes compete in 22 different sports: a great example of how competitive sport can bring together all sorts of people from across the world.

One of the core values of the Paralympic Games is recognising that people have equal worth whatever their differences and taking action to overcome prejudice and discrimination. This is something that also lies at the heart of everything we do as disability access consultants.   We use our expertise and personal experiences of disability to promote inclusion and challenge discriminatory practice to ensure buildings and developments are accessible to all. Take a look at some of the projects we’ve been involved with.

As an avid wheelchair tennis player, I can’t wait for the wheelchair tennis to start, especially since a few years ago, I had the pleasure to play against Abbie Breakwell who is now at her first Paralympic Games.

Good luck to everyone who is taking part, and especially to Abbie!
