Helping the NFTS cater for varying access needs

We were delighted to be asked to work recently with the National Film and Television School (NFTS). With their main campus in Beaconsfield, the NFTS is globally renowned for providing practical and specialist courses for people who are interested in working behind the scenes, in areas such as directing, visual effects and cinematography.

We were particularly pleased, as the NFTS is committed to supporting the greater inclusion of disabled talent within the film, games and television industries, and have already agreed to adopt the TV Access Project’s 5 As (Anticipate, Ask, Assess, Adjust & Advocate) and benchmark all their student and staff recruitment practices against them as standard.

The School works with a diverse range of students looking to upskill and hosts visits from a wide range of community groups, so we were able to provide them with plenty of advice and guidance to help ensure all their facilities and courses cater for varying access needs.

Our access audit is just one part of NFTS Disabled Talent Commitment action plan.  It’s a pleasure to work with an institution of such renown who are planning to make effective and meaningful change within the industry by countering the physical cultural and structural barriers faced by disabled creative.
