“Achieving everything TAP aims to accomplish couldn’t come soon enough”.
That was a statement we made at the end of last year when talking about our role in helping create the TAP Audit Checklist as well as providing training sessions on its content and how to use it.
We are therefore really encouraged to see so many broadcasters say they will boycott production spaces that have not completed a TV Access Project access audit by August 2025. TAP’s goal is to achieve full inclusion for Deaf, Disabled and Neurodivergent talent by 2030 and this is a massive step towards making this a reality.
One of the reasons we were so thrilled to be involved with this project was the real desire to co-create with disabled people and the wider industry to deliver sustainable solutions which everyone supports.
We can’t help feeling this open letter from nine key broadcasters and streamers is testament to the fact that co-production really does work. Not only do they feel empowered to make bolder decisions as well as changes, but they really understand how small adjustments can make the world of difference in terms of accessibility and inclusion.
We look forward to working with TAP over the coming year to provide free training sessions to support spaces to use the Audit checklist and help achieve TAP’s vision for full inclusion by 2030.
